Annual Giving

Samueli Academy students have extraordinary potential but all-too-often lack the resources, relationships, and readiness that their peers from more affluent, stable backgrounds possess. This creates a gap between their potential and opportunity for success. Your support of our research-proven programs helps build a bridge between their potential and opportunity, enabling our students to thrive.

Ways to Give

There are multiple meaningful ways to support Samueli Academy students and programs. With a gift to “General Giving,” you’ll allow us to use your support where it’s needed most. You can also choose to “Support a Student” or “Support a Program” – whichever option is closest to your heart. No matter how you choose to make a donation, you’ll be making a tremendous impact in the lives of our youth!

Please contact our Director of Development, Alex Vrabeck, at avrabeck@samueliacademy.org with any questions about your giving.

Donor-Advised Funds

A grant from your donor-advised fund will make a powerful difference in the lives of our students.

Contact your fund manager or financial institution to recommend a gift to Samueli Academy.

Please reach out to Alex Vrabeck at avrabeck@samueliacademy.org to let us know of your gift so we can thank you for your generosity.

General Giving

All General Giving will go towards Samueli Academy’s “greatest needs,” which can vary from time to time, but will always ultimately support our students and/or programs, helping to ensure our youth have the resources they need to thrive.

Support a Student

Samueli Academy receives approximately $12,000 per student annually in state funding. However, the actual cost to deliver a comprehensive educational experience—including academics, student support services, extracurricular activities, and enrichment programs—is approximately $13,500 per student. This results in a funding “gap” of $1,500 per student. With an enrollment of roughly 800 students, this equals a schoolwide shortfall of $1.2 million that must be raised annually to ensure every student has access to the full Samueli Academy experience at no additional cost to their families.

A $1,500 donation allows a student to experience:

– Small class sizes (21-1 student-to-teacher ratio)
– Athletics and after-school activities & tutoring
– 4 years of college preparedness
– Laptop for every student
– Work-based learning support
– Student success coordinator
– 4 years of alumni support

Support a Program

After-School Enrichment
The after-school environment is crucial to the development of today’s youth. Our students enjoy staying late to participate in athletics, clubs, and tutoring, which is all supported by your donations.

Alumni Program
We support our graduates through the next four years of their lives. A majority of our graduates are first generation college students, and our alumni program is a big reason why our college persistence rate is more than twice the national average for this demographic of students!

Work-Based Learning
Six years of career preparedness including exploration tours, career conferences, internships, resume building, interview skills, and more.

Events
Events are important to our school culture and provide our students with a well-rounded experience. Fundraising is crucial as our goal is to provide access to these events at a low cost, or no cost to our students, many of whom would otherwise struggle to afford attending.

Foster Youth Support
Ensuring foster youth success is at the heart of Samueli Academy, and Orangewood Foundation’s mission. These students need extra academic and social-emotional support in order to thrive, and additional funding is needed to make this happen.

STEAM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Our Project-Based Learning approach, with an emphasis on STEAM, is designed to revolutionize teaching by incorporating these subjects into all classes with hands-on projects that require critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
