I completed my first two years of university work at University of California, Santa Barbara, initially intending to major in Microbiology and continue to dental and orthodontic schools to fit people with braces. After a couple terms, I determined that I loved the humanities and wanted to study them instead. As a junior, I transferred to University of California, Davis, where I decided to double major in English Literature and Spanish Literature. I returned to my home town and taught for 4 years at my Alma Mater, Antelope Valley High School, in Lancaster, CA, mentored along the way by my former teachers. Wanting to return to Northern California where I had graduated from university studies, I began teaching at Oakmont High School in Roseville, CA. I taught English there for 11 years, leading colleagues as Writing Coordinator. I also learned how to teach Introduction to Medicine by integrating projects with a colleague and by completing additional coursework.

Working with young minds is my passion, one for which I strive to excel. To that end, I continue looking forward to new challenges and opportunities at Samueli Academy, a school focused on preparing students for college and career readiness, the kind of school where I belong.
