Ms. Alexandra Lopez-Martinez

Alexandra (who goes by Alex) has been in education for 20 years as a classroom teacher and school administrator. Alex began her career as a founding middle school mathematics teacher with Aspire Public Schools in Huntington Park, CA. Through her mathematics instruction, which focused on problem-based learning, Alex embraced learning through collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. Furthermore, she understood that EVERY one of her students had the ability to thrive when she provided proper supports, created a caring environment, and set high expectations.

Alex also found success outside of the classroom as an instructional leader. In her 7 years of teaching at the middle and high school level, Alex was a vital component in building and leading the math programs of her schools. Her success as an educator and passion for educational equity motivated Alex to pursue school administration in 2013. In 2019, Alex fulfilled her dream of working in Santa Ana and became the founding administrator of the Samueli 7th/8th program.

A daughter of two Mexican immigrants, Alex was the first in her family to attend college. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine and a teaching credential and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. Born and raised in Santa Ana, Alex is proud to be serving the community she is from. Alex resides in Santa Ana with her husband and two daughters.
